What we do

Where your money goes

Thanks to our amazing community, volunteers, corporate supporters and funders, we focus our work in three ways: spreading hope and joy, financial support, and medical research.

Nine ways we spread hope

    Gifts and wishes

Bespoke gifts, grants and wishes for young people aged 13 to 24, through social and support workers at six hospitals across the North West and North Wales.

    Bereavement support

Bereavement grants, and memory boxes of personalised keepsakes, for families whose child died aged 13 to 24.

    Caravan holidays

Free holidays at Giddo’s Gaff, our caravan in Greenacres, Porthmadog, for young people with cancer and for families mourning a young loved one.

    Giddo’s Goodie Boxes

Boxes of sweet treats, snacks and drinks on oncology wards, so young people and their families can help themselves day and night.

    Emergency bags

Bags of essentials for young people admitted to hospital unexpectedly: a toothbrush, toiletries, notepads and phone chargers.

    Funding research

Every year we give to four charities working towards a less aggressive cure for childhood cancer.

    Raising awareness

Of teenage and childhood cancer, through campaigns such as Go Gold every September.

    Craft packs

On hospital wards, to keep young people busy and entertained during treatment.

    Meal vouchers

For parents staying in hospital with their child, to ease the cost of eating there.

Spreading hope and joy

Our mission is to bring moments of joy and relief to teenagers and young adults battling cancer. This journey can be full of physical, emotional and financial challenges, which often take the focus away from the simple joys that make life meaningful. We bridge that gap with personalised gifts, grants and wishes that lift spirits and remind young people that they are seen, valued and supported.

We offer experiences, things or support that match each young person’s passions and dreams, whether that is a cherished hobby, a special outing, or help to ease their journey. Fulfilling these wishes brings a sense of normality and joy, and a much-needed break from treatment and hospital visits.

Each gift is a unique expression of care, designed to bring a smile, create a special memory, or help fulfil a personal goal, making life a little brighter, one wish at a time.

Our caravan in Porthmadog

Giddo’s Gaff

A large part of the money you raise keeps Giddo’s Gaff running: our charity caravan in the beautiful surroundings of Greenacres, Porthmadog. It was Jordan’s favourite place, where he found happiness and calm and made cherished memories. Today we share it with families who need it most.

Your donations cover the site fees, utilities, maintenance and repairs, so families arrive to a spotless, stress-free retreat. They don’t just keep a caravan running; they keep Jordan’s spirit alive.

Easing financial pressures for families facing a cancer diagnosis

Cost of living grants

Cancer is not only a medical battle; it is a financial one too. Families facing a diagnosis often see their costs soar while their income falls, at an already overwhelming time. These are some of the hidden costs:

  • Travel: frequent hospital visits, often far from home, mean fuel, parking and accommodation costs.
  • Lost wages: time off work for treatment, caring or recovery leaves many families struggling with basic bills.
  • Childcare: brothers and sisters often need extra care during appointments and treatment.
  • Food: hospital stays, long journeys and stress all add to the cost of eating.

Our cost of living grants ease these everyday pressures, so families can focus on getting through this together. Every pound you give might cover a tank of fuel for hospital trips, a week’s shopping, or childcare, so that no family has to fight cancer alone.

Support at the hardest time

Bereavement grants

No parent is ever prepared for losing a child. Planning a funeral is something no family expects, let alone budgets for. Our bereavement grants help families at their most vulnerable, with financial help towards the unexpected and overwhelming costs of losing a loved one.

Cancer often leaves families in hardship long before bereavement: the costs of treatment, time off work and travel to specialist care all add up. When the unthinkable happens, many families find they cannot afford a proper goodbye.

Through your generosity, families can focus on their grief and healing rather than money worries. Your support brings dignity and compassion at life’s hardest moments, and one less burden to carry.

Small comforts make a big difference

Feeding hope

Meal vouchers for parents. When a child is having cancer treatment, parents often spend long, stressful days at the hospital, and the cost of eating there adds up quickly. Our meal vouchers give them one less thing to worry about, so they can focus on being there for their child.

Giddo’s Goodie Boxes. Cancer treatment is tough enough without being hungry. Our Goodie Boxes are full of healthy snacks, comforting treats and little pick-me-ups, on the wards day and night, so no young person goes without a boost at any hour.

In the hope that one day we will find a cure

Medical research

A large part of the money we raise goes into research into kinder, more effective treatments for childhood and teenage cancers. These cancers often need invasive treatment with long-lasting side effects, like the treatment that led to Jordan’s second cancer. We are committed to changing that by supporting the organisations at the forefront of research and care.

The four charities we fund every year

Children’s Cancer and Leukaemia Group

CCLG advances treatment and improves outcomes for children and young people with cancer, funding world-class research and supporting families.

Histio UK

Focused on rare histiocytic disorders, Histio UK funds research to understand and treat diseases such as Langerhans cell histiocytosis and HLH, the disease Jordan was first diagnosed with.

Bone Cancer Research Trust

The leading charity fighting primary bone cancer, developing new treatments for rare and aggressive bone cancers like osteosarcoma and Ewing sarcoma.

Sarcoma UK

Sarcoma UK funds research, gives expert support to patients and families, and campaigns for better awareness and treatment of this rare and often aggressive cancer.
