Go Gold every September
Remembering our angels
Every September we remember the young people who were taken too soon, and raise awareness of childhood and teenage cancer, in the hope that one day no child or young person has to suffer.

Go Gold for childhood cancer
Flint glows gold
Every September, gold bikes and scooters appear around Flint and by the river in Chester. Each one represents a childhood lost to cancer, and each is dedicated to an angel.
Shops, pubs, St Mary’s Church and the Town Hall are lit up gold, and Team Giddo honours over 100 angels with heartfelt messages and photos outside the church in Flint and along the suspension bridge in Chester. We meet bereaved families and place yellow roses in the river for their loved ones, and gold stars carry the names of children still battling.
Our golden angels
Each heart remembers a young person taken too soon. Tap a heart to see it larger.

Our Memory Garden
In our Memory Garden, where love forever blooms,
We honour cherished souls, gone far too soon.
Their fight with cancer may have ended, but here their spirit stays,
And their wonderful memories live on through our charity’s ways.
Although their love and light we can never replace,
Their selflessness means a smile on another young person’s face.
Young hearts touched by cancer, finding new cheer,
Through gifts and support, we lessen their fear.
Each donation made in their memory, each fundraising campaign,
Means the world to those still with us, means their battle was not in vain.
To those of you with angel wings, your memories we uplift,
Thank you for helping us help other people,
Love always, Giddo’s Gift.
Paying tribute to the angels who have touched our charity
In loving memory
Tasha Pickard, from Flint, a devoted mother of two
We are forever grateful to Tasha’s family for a substantial grant given to the charity in her name in 2023.
Tasha died after a diagnosis of peripheral nerve sheath tumour, a type of spinal cancer. Giddo’s Gift was there to support her family, who are also local. A family member who works in London nominated us to receive funds from a number of discretionary charitable trusts, and a total of £27,000 was donated to us in memory of Tasha.
Thanks to this outstanding gesture we appointed our first employee, a community development officer. It means we can achieve more than ever, keep putting smiles on the faces of young people battling cancer, and spread awareness of childhood cancer.
Thank you, Tasha. 💙

Every Christmas
Giddo’s Memory Tree
Every year we pay tribute to our heroes in heaven by decorating a blue tree with knitted angels, each one representing a young loved one taken too soon by cancer. Anyone is welcome to make a donation and place an angel and a handwritten card on the tree.
In 2024 the tree stood proudly in the entrance of Flint Library, Giddo shining away and bringing light to so many people.
Every August bank holiday we also hold a Memory Walk, for anyone who has lost a young loved one to cancer, or who wants to pay tribute to them.

Remember someone you love
Every donation made in their memory means a smile on another young person’s face.
